Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) Types

Bonita Springs, Naples, Estero and Ft. Myers, Florida

Depending on the amount of excess skin and fatty tissue that you would like removed from your abdomen, Dr. Mandraccia will recommend one of three types of tummy tucks: an endoscopic, mini or full tummy tuck.

Endoscopic Tummy Tuck

This technique is used for patients who only need a small amount of fatty tissue and loose skin removed. The procedure begins when Dr. Mandraccia creates a small horizontal incision, about four inches in length, above the pubic hairline. Through the incision he will repair loose muscle and then remove unwanted fat using liposuction. When the procedure is over, Dr. Mandraccia will close the incision.

Mini Tummy Tuck

This technique is used if you have a moderate amount of loose skin and tissue to be removed. The incision Dr. Mandraccia uses for a mini tummy tuck is longer than the kind used for an endoscopic tummy tuck, but not as large as what is needed for a full tummy tuck. If necessary, an incision will also be made around your belly button. Through the incisions, Dr. Mandraccia can tighten your abdominal muscles and perform liposuction on the middle and sides of your abdomen.

Full Tummy Tuck

If you have a significant amount of fat and skin to be removed from the abdomen, you will need a full tummy tuck with Dr. Mandraccia to see the best results possible. The main incision for a full tummy tuck extends from one hip to the other and is made low on the abdomen so it can be covered by underwear or a swimsuit. A second incision made by Dr. Mandraccia around your belly button will also be made and your belly button will be removed and re-attached through a new opening in your abdominal skin at the end of the procedure.

Through the incisions Dr. Mandraccia makes, the abdominal muscles will be repaired and tightened, and the fatty tissue of you’re mid-section and love handles will be removed using liposuction. Next, Dr. Mandraccia removes the excess skin between your belly button and pubic hairline and then the incisions are closed.
