Laser Skin Resurfacing

The Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure

Laser skin resurfacing is performed by Dr. Mandraccia on an outpatient basis and under local sedation and local or general anesthesia. During the procedure, Dr. Mandraccia will use a specially calibrated, pulsed laser to removes the superficial layers of your skin. The advantages of using a laser are that the depth of treatment is extremely controllable and predictable. The laser also helps smooth the skin with a tightening effect.

Depending on the location of the laser skin resurfacing, the treated areas are usually covered with a tape-like bandage or ointment. Dr. Mandraccia will then send you home with specific instructions on how to gently wash and care for your skin. You will have mild swelling and discomfort in the first few days, and should complete the healing process within seven to 10 days.

Other facial cosmetic procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), rhytidectomy (facelift), browlift, rhinoplasty (cosmetic nose surgery), and cheek implant surgery can be performed in conjunction with laser skin resurfacing.
